How
is Cipy different from other coating manufacturers?
Cipy is the only company in India which offers variety of
products ranging from floor coatings, clear coatings, adhesives,
sealants, corrosion control coatings, OEM finishes based on
four polymers, viz. PU, EP, EPU & Acrylics in three different
versions: solvented, solventless and aqueous. This gives you
innumerable options to choose the right product for the right
application.
What
is Polyurethane ? How many grades does Cipy offer ?
Polyurethane is a reaction product of a polyisocyanate and
hydroxyl groups. According to ASTM classification, (ASTM D16)
there are 5 types of Polyurethane coatings. We manufacture
all types of urethane coatings - 1K and 2 K. We manufacture
solvent borne, solventless and water borne urethane coatings
based on aromatic as well as aliphatic isocyanates.
What
is elastomeric, 100% solventless coatings ?
Solventless coatings are now popular worldwide because of
their excellent resistance to aggressive environment, unlimited
film build (200 microns to 2000 microns), fast application,
low temperature curing capability and zero VOC emissions.
As these coatings are rapid curing, within minutes of application,
conventional coating techniques can not be utilized. Plural
component airless spray equipment is usually employed.By definition,
the term 100% solids means that the system neither contains
any solvent nor uses any solvent to dilute it. It is in liquid
state and will convert to a solid film after curing. Cipy's
Durathane 100 is such a coating.
What
is moisture curing urethane ?
Moisture curing urethane is 1K polyisocyanate resin which
reacts with atmospheric moisture to form urea linkages.Although
this is technically a polyurea system, it is generally referred
to as moisture cured urethane (MCU).The chemistry is that
polyisocyanates first undergo a reaction with water to form
carbamic acid which dissociates to form amine & carbon
dioxide which further undergo reaction with isocyanate to
form urea linkages.Urea linkages offer excellent bonding characteristics.Moisture
curing urethanes are available in aromatic and aliphatic grades.
Cipy's Rust-O-Thane is an aromatic grade of MCU.
Why
Cipy is so versatile in floor toppings ?
Cipy employs three polymers in floor toppings : PU, Epoxy
and EPU. With the above, various product combinations are
possible to offer the right product blend for the right application.
So in a pharma floor, you may opt for Epoxy or EPU. In an
automobile unit, you may go for a complete PU system. In a
light engineering. industry, you may use a physical combination
of an Epoxy (as under coat) and a PU (as top coat).Cipy believes
in multi polymer technology and application.
What
is EPU?
EPU is a hybrid resin incorporating epoxy and Polyurethane
resins. The hydroxyl groups in the epoxy resin are reacted
with Polyisocynate to form urethane linkages. The resulting
film of EPU is flexible and quite hard and possesses excellent
properties such as abrasion resistance, chemical resistance,
excellent adhesion etc.
What
is Rust-0-Thane and how does it work differently from other
anti-corrosive paints ?
Rust-O-Thane is a single component, encapsulating primer based
on MCU. It cures with atmospheric moisture to yield urea linkages.
Rust-O-Thane contains special grade of lamellar pigments which
acts as a strong corrosion barrier. The advantages of Rust-O-ThaneNo
mixing errors. No pot life, no catalyzation, no induction time.No
sand blasting and no costly surface preparation. No problems
of high relative humidity.
What
is PUD ?
PUD is polyurethane dispersion in water. There are three types
of dispersions : anionic, non-ionic and cationic.Firstly,
an isocynate terminated pre polymer is synthesized by mixing
polyol, di-isocynate and hydroxy alkanoic acid. This is then
neutralized by an amine (TEA) and dispersed in water which
is further chain extended by diamines like EDA, IPD etc.PUD's
are available in 1K and 2K systems.
What
is 1 K blocked Polyurethane ?
In one component heat cured systems, the polyisocyanate groups
are blocked by a blocking agent, therefore, preventing it
from reacting with hydroxy! groups of either polyol or moisture.
On heating the system to a temperature ranging from 140°C
to 180°C, the blocking agent is released and the isocyanate
functionality is restored. It now reacts with hydroxyl groups
to form urethane linkages. These coatings are stable at room
temperature and unaffected by exposure to moisture.
