Cipy protective coatings based on polyurethanes (2K & 1K), epoxies and EPU’s play a very important role in the fight against corrosion and erosion. They provide an envelope protection to the substrate, insulating it from moisture (electrolyte) and oxygen.

Cipy’s protective coatings offer excellent resistance to varied chemicals ranging from acids to alkalies and are extensively used in fertiliser units, chemical processing industries, shipping industries and marine environments.

And with the continuous research inputs in that direction, Cipy is now in a position to offer highly cross linked polyurethane coatings, 1K & 2 K, to protect substrates against the most aggressive corrosive environments . They are safe bets for corrosive environments where epoxy coatings would not stand up because of certain acids’ presence and where a polyester would fail due to extreme alkanity.

Cipy has developed a complete range of epoxy coatings for corrosion control for metal and concrete substrates, from primers, intermediate coats to top coats and hi-build coats. These solvented systems offer the best barrier protection to metals.

E P U SERIES

2 K coatings, either epoxy or PU, are mostly depending on elaborate surface preparations and also on the performance of the applicators rather than the performance of the coating systems. Cipy offers specially formulated, surface tolerant ,self priming coatings based on EPU , a chemical blend of epoxy and polyurethane polymers for application over manually prepared surfaces. EPU is a unique chemical combination where the hydroxyl groups present in the epoxide resin, react with isocyanates.

These coatings need very minimal surface preparation like hand tool or power tool cleaning, but no sand or grit blasting.

DURATHANE RANGE

Durathane series represent a complete range of urethane 2 K coating systems for corrosion control. Each product contains specific properties that contribute to the success of the total Durathane coating system, which includes primer, intermediate coat and top coat.

Durathane coating system has relatively very low moisture permeability and fares better than epoxies in terms of oxygen, water and chloride ion permeability.
